ROSELAND — Two people were arrested in connection with a shooting last month that left one person injured in the Roseland city limits.
The shooting happened on Sawdust Lane in Roseland, investigators determined. On June 24, a local hospital notified Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s deputies that a 21-year-old man showed up to the ER with multiple gunshot wounds. He was initially listed in critical condition, but has since been released from the hospital, according to officials.
TPSO’s investigation determined the victim was injured on Sawdust Lane in the town of Roseland. Detectives determined the victim met with a group to exchange guns and, at some point, shots were fired.
Thanks to help from the public, two suspects were identified and warrants were issued for their arrest.
According to TPSO and East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO), 19-year-old D’Marvin Williams was arrested this week on one count of attempted second-degree murder.
After receiving information from TPSO detectives, the EBRSO Gang Intelligence and Enforcement Unit located Williams at a home in Baton Rouge and coordinated with the EBRSO Homicide Division, SCAT Division, SWAT Team, and Narcotics Division to take him into custody.
During the operation, investigators recovered a Century Arms RAS47 rifle, a Ruger RXM 9mm pistol equipped with an apparent conversion switch, suspected cocaine, a Glock extended magazine, multiple aftermarket firearm triggers, a rifle scope, and ammunition, according to EBRSO.
Williams was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison as a fugitive from Tangipahoa Parish. Additional EBRSO charges related to this investigation are pending.
Dedrian Batiste, 23, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on one count of accessory to attempted second-degree murder with assistance from EBRSO.
