Officials investigating body found in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police detectives updated on the body found on Wednesday in a field in the city. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be an ‘accidental overdose’ per BRPD.

The call for the body came in around Noon on July 10 near the intersection of Harry and Ardenwood drives in a field. That’s near Tim’s Food Mart on Ardenwood.

Officials do not have too many details to add today. On Wednesday, Homicide detectives responded to the scene because it was unclear if the person died from a crime or if it was a natural or overdose death.

Since then, BRPD says an autopsy found the victim died from an overdose.

The victim’s name has not been released at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP or call the Baton Rouge Police Dept. directly.
