
HAMMOND — A Ponchatoula man is wanted for his alleged role in a shooting that occurred at a local business over the weekend.
Officials say Hammond Police issued an arrest warrant for Jack Smith, 23. According to authorities, Smith was identified by witnesses as one of the shooters in the incident that occurred at Legend’s Sports Bistro & Billiards.
Smith is facing two counts of attempted second-degree murder, one count of illegal discharge of a weapon, and five counts of aggravated criminal damage to property. On Monday, Hammond Police, along with the assistance of the Ponchatoula Police Department, attempted to arrest Smith at his home and job but were unable to find him.
On Nov. 18 at 1:41 a.m., Hammond Police officers responded to Legends Bar (formally known as Shooters), located at 1306 South Morrison Boulevard, about a report of shots fired.
Officers arrived two minutes after the initial call. They were also notified that two victims who had been shot had just arrived at North Oaks Medical Center. Both victims were treated for their injuries and were in stable condition.
