
UPDATE: (9/10/22 9am) Deputies returned to his home and found him asleep outside on the patio and took him into custody without further incident.
UPDATE: (9/10/22 12am) The search has been called off for the night. Deputies have a warrant for Strahan’s arrest and will serve it later.
Units will remain in the Village Lakes neighborhood throughout the night. Deputies also searched a vacant home that many called in saying Strahan may possibly be hiding out there. It was empty.
ORIGINAL: (9/9/22 8pm) East Baton Rouge deputies and Central police officers are currently searching for a man who allegedly pointed a gun at deputies and then fled. SWAT & a helicopter are helping search for him.
He has been identified as Matthew Tanner Strahan, 41. EBR Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said the man does not have a criminal history.
It was around 7:45pm when deputies responded to a disturbance call after a couple got into an argument in the Village Lakes neighborhood, specifically on Magnolia Crossing Dr.
When deputies were on the scene, an individual, possibly under the influence, pointed a gun at the officials and allegedly fled out of a window of the home.
Officials are currently searching for him in the woods near the neighborhood.
Officials said no one was shot and so far, there are no reported injuries.
