BATON ROUGE —- The pedestrian bridge used to access the old Belle Casino has collapsed.
It happened around 5 p.m. on Friday, April 25.
Buoys held up the pedestrian bridge, but the buoys have failed, leading to the bridge collapsing, with a portion of it in the Mississippi River. The Belle Casino is shut down at this time.
The Mississippi River at Baton Rouge is sitting at roughly 41 feet as of April 25th, which is considered a major flooding stage and is expected to rise as high as 42 feet by May 2nd.
UWK has reached out to numerous officials inquiring about the collapsed pedestrian bridge in Baton Rouge. Paramedics have confirmed to UWK they are not responding to the bridge.
