BATON ROUGE — On May 27, Baton Rouge Police officers arrested a man on drugs charges after initially investigating a reported assault with a firearm. Officers say they found more than 80 packs of THC-infused gummies and candy, along with ecstasy, cocaine and other drugs.
Officers responded to a home in the 2400 block of Drusilla Lane on Wednesday to investigate a reported assault.
Once there, officers began questioning 32-year-old Darius Crawford about the incident. During the investigation, officers asked Crawford whether he had any weapons in the home and if he would agree to a search of the premises, according to an affidavit. Crawford agreed to the search, and officers say they confiscated a variety narcotics and four guns from Crawford.
Officers sezied the following:
- 85 packs of THC gummies and edibles (600 mg)
- 33 cases of liquid THC vapes
- 63 total cartridges of liquid cannabis
- 1.1 pounds of marijuana
- 20 chocolate bars of psilocybin edibles
- 36 THC vape pens
- MDMA ecstasy
- alprazolam
- suspected psilocybin mushrooms
- amphetamine
- dextroamphetamine
- oxycodone pills
- cocaine
The firearms consisted of two Glocks and two Smith & Wessons.
According to the affidavit, when officers asked Crawford about the narcotics in the home, he allegedly responded that he smokes an ounce of marijuana daily.
Officers arrested Crawford and booked him into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on multiple counts of manufacturing, distribution, or possession with intent to distribute Schedule I, II, and IV substances, as well as illegal carrying of a firearm with controlled dangerous substances.
