BATON ROUGE — A Baton Rouge man is facing charges of assault by drive-by shooting and attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly fired at another vehicle on the road. The other person was injured in the shooting.
Dylan Mueller was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Jan. 4.
The incident occurred on Nov. 15, 2025, in the 16800 block of Hwy. 190 (between Old Hammond Highway and the Livingston Parish line). According to EBRSO, the victim was driving east on Old Hammond Hwy. when the driver got behind a Hyundai car.
The driver of the Hyundai, who officials say was Mueller, started to slow down and get off the roadway “as if pulling into a driveway.” But then, Mueller got back on Old Hammond Hwy.
According to the arrest warrant, both vehicles turned right onto Florida Blvd. The victim then got in the left lane while Mueller remained in the right lane, both driving side-by-side.
EBRSO says that while the victim was driving next to this Hyundai, they told officers they had recalled “feeling a shock to their body, as if they had been hit. The victim stated their body then went numb.” That’s when the victim realized they’d been shot and looked over at the passenger side to see the Hyundai driving.
The victim kept driving until they were able to pull over and immediately contacted the Denham Springs Police, whose officers launched an investigation, according to the arrest warrant. The victim was able to give police officers the license plate of the Hyundai.
When inspecting the victim’s vehicle, officers say they noted that there were three apparent bullet holes, all on the passenger side.
Denham Springs Police officers contacted the Hyundai’s owner, who told investigators he’d bought the vehicle for Mueller. Investigators obtained a search warrant for Mueller’s phone records, and according to the affidavit, records indicated he was in the area at the time of the apparent shooting.
In addition, they obtained surveillance footage that showed the Hyundai traveling behind the victim’s vehicle and turning South onto 4-H Club Rd near the time of the shooting.
When Denham Springs Police officers attempted to arrange a meeting with Mueller to get his statement, Mueller denied meeting with officials without his attorney present, per the affidavit. Additional efforts to meet with Mueller were also unsuccessful, according to officials.
