It was just after 7pm on November 11, 2022 when State Police responded to a two-vehicle deadly crash in East Feliciana Parish.
It happened on LA 67 south of LA 412 near the East Feliciana & East Baton Rouge Parish line.
Jason Herrin, 39, of Slaughter was killed in the crash.
The initial investigation revealed that Herrin was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Impala headed south on LA 67. At the same time, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was headed north on LA 67. For reasons still being investigated, Herrin crossed the center line entering the northbound lane, and hit the Silverado head-on.
Herrin was buckled at the time of the crash, but died on the scene from his injuries.
The driver of the Silverado was not buckled and had moderate injuries. There were two passengers in the Silverado, one adult passenger who was also unrestrained and a toddler who was properly restrained.
All occupants of the Silverado were transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor to moderate injuries.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from both drivers and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
