Overnight in BR: Pursuit suspect shoots at police, teen shot & triple shooting

BATON ROUGE —- As day gives to night in Baton Rouge and residents head to bed, Baton Rouge police officers prepare for a nonstop shift of patrolling the Capital City. May 23 was no different as officers responded to multiple scenes throughout the city for shootings and a chase.

It comes after not only a violent weekend in Baton Rouge, but also on top of five homicides since Sunday and nearly a dozen shootings.

Chase with suspect shooting at officer

It was just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday night when a Baton Rouge Police officer spotted a truck that Louisiana State Police were searching for. Earlier in the day, troopers attempted to pull over the truck, but the driver took off putting the truck on all law enforcement’s radar.

A BRPD officer spotted the truck Tuesday night on S. Foster Dr. near Florida Blvd., but the driver did not stop for the officer.

A pursuit started with additional officers joining in to help. A few minutes into the chase, the suspect is said to have pointed a gun out the truck and shot at the initial officer twice. The officer nor his unit were hit.

Numerous witnesses told UWK they saw dozens of police and troopers along Airline Hwy. in an active pursuit.

Officials eventually lost the truck but found crucial evidence they could use related to the case at N. Foster & Clayton drives. While investigating that scene, additional officers said they found the truck in question outside a motel just a few miles from the scene. The truck was vacant and officers found the alleged suspect a few blocks away.

He was arrested. He has been identified as Borloz Louidor, 40. He’s charged with attempt first-degree murder of a peace officer, illegal use of a weapon, illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated flight from an officer.

Teen shot

Just before 11 p.m., officers responded to the 4500 block of Sherwood St. for a shooting. That’s off of N. Foster Dr. & Evangeline St.

A young teenager had been shot, possibly in the stomach. The teenager was transported to Children’s Hospital in serious condition.

It’s unclear at this time what led up to the shooting or if any arrests have been made.

Triple Shooting

A few minutes past 11 p.m., BRPD officers were called out to N. Acadian Thruway near North St. for another shooting.

At this scene, officials found three people who had been shot. All three victims were shot multiple times, including one person who was shot in the head.

All three people were transported to the hospital. All three are listed in serious condition.

The investigation into the triple shooting is ongoing with no details at this time of what led up to the shots fired. No word yet on if any arrests have been made in this case either at this time.

Anyone with information on any of the shootings or homicides is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP and be eligible for a cash reward.
