CENTRAL — Two Central High students were selected to perform in the Macy’s Great American Marching Band at the 98th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Levi Briley and Ethan Cormier will join select students from across the country in the holiday tradition. Both students submitted video auditions in January. Briley, a junior saxophonist, was accepted several weeks ago. Cormier, a junior percussionist, found out last week that he would be representing Louisiana in the band.

Briley and Cormier are leaders in the Central High band, performing in marching, symphonic, and jazz bands.

The Macy’s Great American Marching Band is known for honoring America’s finest high school musicians, color guard members, and dancers. On Thanksgiving Day, 185 student musicians, along with approximately 40 flags and dancers, will perform.

With an estimated 3.5 million spectators lining the parade route and over 50 million TV viewers tuning in live on NBC, Briley and Cormier will have the opportunity to showcase their talent and represent Louisiana on a global stage.
