Panicked shoppers run out of Walker Walmart after man pulls gun, two arrested

WALKER — Shoppers at the Walker Walmart were sent into a panic after a man pulled a gun during a fight inside the store.

The incident happened Sunday around 11 a.m.

Walker Police Chief David Addison said people were rushing out of the store yelling. People inside the store started posting about the chaos on Facebook. The chief himself happened to be walking into the Walmart as he came across people running out.

“I go to the back of the store and encounter the man with the weapon. I pulled my weapon and told him to drop his weapon immediately, to the ground,” said Chief Addison.

“As we were walking out, people started running and yelling there was someone with a gun,” a Facebook post read. “Cops were already swarming in.”

Chief Addison said he drew his weapon, told the man to drop his and he complied.

The altercation started as a fist fight between “two older men, “Addison said. Both men are being charged in this case.

The man with the gun is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon and for terrorizing shoppers. The other man in the fight was charged with disturbing the peace.
