MARY WILLIAMS & LADRE DOUCETTE

Parents of an 8-month old infant killed on Monday, Feb. 21st, have been arrested.

Ladre Doucette, 28, and Mary Williams, 30, were arrested and charged with first degree murder for their infant’s death.

Around 3pm on Feb. 21st, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home on Oakside Dr. in reference to an infant death.

It started with a 911 call for medical assistance to the 8-month-old boy. The baby was unresponsive and transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials learned that the baby only weighed 8 lbs due to medical issues. Family members told deputies that the baby’s father, Doucette, was verbally abusive towards the infant.

The EBR coroner’s investigation revealed a minor cut on the child’s eye and a mild hematoma on the back of his head. An autopsy revealed trauma not only to the back of the child’s head, but to his spine, torso and upper extremities. Plus, officials said the baby’s ribs were fractured, lungs were bruised and punctured and there was additional damage to major organs. It’s why the baby’s death was ruled a homicide.

The father is said to have used extreme profanity towards the baby because the baby cried.

The baby’s mother, Williams, was arrested for allowing her boyfriend/baby’s father, to beat the child. The mother told officials the physical abuse began in January 2022. In fact, she said she counted at least eight times the dad allegedly beat the baby. She then went further to show deputies that the father would allegedly close his fist and hit the baby as he laid in bed. She added she was afraid which is why she did nothing to protect the child. She agreed there were times she could have reported the abuse but did not.
