Pedestrian hit and killed by truck on Hwy. 190

It happened around 6:10 AM on Saturday, September 24 on Highway 190 at S. Woodcrest Ave. in Denham Springs.

The Denham Springs Police Department is investigating a deadly pedestrian struck.

Officials say it appears a man was walking in the middle of the roadway in the eastbound lanes on 190 when he was hit by a 2001 Chevy pick-up. He did die on the scene.

He has been identified as Thomas Rocha, 36, of Denham Springs.

The driver who hit him did remain on scene. As of now, Denham Springs Police say it appears to be an accident, which is why there are no charges for the driver. However, it remains under investigation.

The driver suffered no injuries and submitted a breath sample, indicating no alcohol present and was not believed to beimpaired at the time of the crash. As with all fatality crashes, a standard toxicology sample will be taken and submitted for analysis.
