Pedestrian hit, killed on Interstate 12 near O’Neal

BATON ROUGE — Interstate 12 eastbound is now back open after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed.

The incident happened around 3:15pm on Thursday, Oct. 5 on I-12 eastbound near the O’Neal Ln. exit.

State Police say 40-yr-old Douglas Dupre of Baton Rouge walked into the path of an oncoming Chevy heavy-duty truck in the center lane.

Officials say Dupre on the scene. The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Impairment on the part of Dupre is unknown, and a standard toxicology sample was taken for analysis.

The driver of the Chevrolet was not suspected of being impaired and submitted a blood sample for testing.

Toxicology results are pending, and this crash remains under investigation.
