Pedestrian struck & killed by vehicle on I-10

It was around 4:45am on New Year’s Day in Baton Rouge when a man was hit and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 10.

It started with a DOTD MAP driver requesting police officers to assist with a driver who appeared to be intoxicated. The MAP official said the driver refused to get off the interstate but he did pull over on the shoulder on I-10 near Dalrymple.

By the time officers arrived, the driver jumped out of his vehicle and ran across all the westbound lanes, jumped over the center median into the eastbound lanes on I-10, where a vehicle hit him.

Someone from the public stopped to provide medical attention to the man while police tried to stop traffic.

However, the man did not survive his injuries.

His name has not been released at this time.
