Antonio Felipe Belda, a pediatric cardiologist, was arrested Sept. 28th and charged with 100 counts of pornography involving juveniles, among other charges.
The investigation started after a detective received a complaint from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. That’s when officials found 48 pictures of young girls being sexually assaulted or posing in sexually explicit poses showing their private areas.
Officials were able to backtrack and trace the IP address to Belda.
Officials say between Aug. 27, 2022 and Sept. 1, 2022, Belda allegedly used a computer to look at and possibly upload pictures involving child pornography.
EBRSO deputies along with the FBI, HSI and Louisiana State Police executed a warrant at Belda’s house and found several electronic devices.
Upon asking Belda for his passwords, Belda provided them. That’s when officials said they found “hundreds of pictures/videos of child pornography, child erotica and video voyeurism” on those devices that allegedly belonged to Belda.
It’s why Belda has now been charged with 100 counts of pornography involving juveniles and 30 counts of video voyeurism.
Belda had been hired very recently, Sept. 1st at OLOL Hospital in Baton Rouge. He is no longer employed there. The hospital did issue a statement:
“We are shocked to learn of the disturbing allegations against one of our recently employed physicians. When we became aware of these charges and arrest at his home this morning, the physician was immediately terminated with no further patient or staff contact. Our physician hiring process is extremely rigorous and includes background checks, multiple reference checks and other nationally recognized best practices. We will continue to cooperate fully with our law enforcement partners. As always, the safety and care of our patients and team members is our top priority.”
