Timothy Washington was arrested in Pointe Coupee Parish around 3pm on Friday, Nov. 25th in connection to the double shooting on Thanksgiving day at the Tiger Truck Stop in Iberville Parish.
It was around 10pm when officials say Washington went to the Tiger Truck Stop to pick up his girlfriend. At the same time, two brothers were inside the store.
On the way out, Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi said the two brothers exchanged words with Washington before the two walked back to their car, retrieved a gun and shot at Washington while he was sitting in his vehicle.
That’s when Stassi said Washington returned fire killing of the brothers and injuring the other. The deceased has been identified as Dante Debose, 29, of Baton Rouge.
Washington was also injured with a bullet to his leg. Officials say Washington left the scene and wrecked his vehicle.
It was Friday afternoon when someone called and reported Washington being at an apartment complex in Livonia in Pointe Coupee Parish.
Iberville Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT arrived on scene and were able to take Washington in custody.
He will be booked as a fugitive into the Pointe Coupee Parish jail on behalf of Iberville Parish. He also requires a hospital trip for his injuries. After that, Washington will return to Iberville Parish to face charges.
As of now, Sheriff Stassi said he is facing a charge for felon in possession of a firearm.
“District Attorney Tony Clayton has to determine if this was self-defense or not and how to proceed with additional charges if they’re required,” said Sheriff Stassi.
Sheriff Stassi said East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office also has a hold on Washington for the same charge, felon in possession of a firearm, in an unrelated case. Once he’s finished facing charges in Iberville Parish, he will have to go to EBR.
