PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested Robert Watson, 33, of Pierre Part on felony battery charges from a traffic accident that happened on Aug. 17 on Lee Drive in Pierre Part.
Deputies were dispatched to an address on Joseph Street for a battery complaint, where they met with the complainant. The victim told deputies that on Aug. 17, he was on Lee Drive when he flashed his high beams at a vehicle to signal the driver to dim his lights. As he passed the vehicle, the victim noticed that it was a side-by-side off-road vehicle. Officials say the suspect then turned around and drove to Angella Street, where he allegedly confronted the victim. The suspect, now identified as Robert Watson, is accused of punching the victim in the face through the open window. As a result, the victim had significant face injuries that required medical attention.
Deputies obtained arrest warrants for Watson after an investigation.
Watson was arrested on charges of second degree battery and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
He is in jail awaiting a bond hearing.
