Plaquemine man killed in fatal crash overnight

PLAQUEMINE, La. – A Plaquemine man is dead after a single-vehicle crash overnight in Iberville Parish.

The accident happened just before 2:30 a.m. on February 6, on LA 77 north of LA 992-3 in Plaquemine.

Louisiana State Police say Brandon Parker, 29, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck north on LA 77 when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the roadway while trying to navigate a left-hand curve in the road.

Parker’s Chevrolet traveled down an embankment and struck a tree, according to State Police.

Despite wearing his seatbelt, Parker suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. Toxicology samples were taken to determine if he was impaired while driving.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
