Plaquemine PD investigating victim shot in head

Plaquemine Police are investigating a shooting that happened around 5:45pm at the intersection of W W Harleaux & Calvin streets.

Plaquemine Police Chief Kenny Payne said it appears the victim was walking on the sidewalk when a vehicle with three people pulled up next to him. Chief Payne said all three people jumped out of the car, one person allegedly hit the victim with a pistol.

The victim fell to the ground but then got up and tried to run away. That’s when Chief Payne said the victim was shot in the back of the head once.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Plaquemine Police.
