Plaquemine Police investigating shooting

The Plaquemine Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place around 7pm at the intersection of Union & Plaquemine streets.

When officers arrived, they did not find any victim and the original call came in for “shots fired.”

However, Plaquemine Police Chief Kenny Payne said a few minutes later, a victim showed up at the Easy Shop at Railroad and Haase, 9 blocks from the shooting scene.

The victim had a gunshot would to the arm and would not cooperate with officers, per Chief Payne.

Officers are now searching for a suspect.
