Plaquemine Police investigating shots fired

The Plaquemine Police Dept. is investigating a shooting and looking for one individual.

It happened around 3:45pm at the intersection of W W Harleaux St. & Fleniken Ln. in Plaquemine.

Plaquemine Police Chief Kenny Payne said it was a domestic case involving a woman going to pick up her 10-yr-old child from her ex-boyfriend.

When the ex refused to allow the mother to pick up the child, two teenagers allegedly shot at the ex-boyfriend. The teenagers are the mother’s children, according to Chief Payne.

Both juveniles were arrested and charged with illegal discharge of a firearm. Their mother, Devriane Pickney, is also charged with two counts of improper supervision of a minor.

Although no one was hit by any of the bullets, Chief Payne said the two juveniles and the father of the 10-yr-old did shoot their guns.

“It’s unclear right now who started shooting first and that’s why we’re looking for the father because he fled the scene,” said Chief Payne.

The father has been identified as Jamie Lacey, 29, of Donaldsonville. He was staying at an apartment complex with his current girlfriend in Plaquemine at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information on Lacey’s whereabouts is asked to call Plaquemine PD at 225-687-9273.
