Pointe Coupee: Batchelor man found dead in Old River near a boat

BATCHELOR, La. — A 59-yr-old man’s body was found floating in the Old River in Pointe Coupee Parish according to the sheriff’s office.

It was around 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4, when the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office received for a call for help.

Officials say a man working on a nearby pier called 911 reporting that a boat was idling and had drifted near the shore of a camp on Porter Monk Road in Batchelor.

At the time of the call, deputies were told the boat was unoccupied and still running.

Sheriff’s deputies & other agencies responded to investigate and found Jack Bradley, Jr., 59, of Batchelor, afloat in the river near the boat.

PCPSO says no foul play is expected and it is believed to be an accident, but the incident remains under investigation by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries.
