Pointe Coupee: Hwy. 1 crash leaves one dead

LETTSWORTH — A fatal crash on Wednesday in Pointe Coupee Parish has left one person dead after an accident on Highway 1.

It was around 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 18 when deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 1 in Lettsworth.

One person died at the scene after they were ejected from the vehicle. Deputies have identified the victim as 67-year-old Chris James of Mansura. The coroner’s office responded and an autopsy will have to determine the cause and manner of death.

Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s deputies continue investigating the cause of the crash. No further details have been released.
