ROUGON — A crash just six hours into the new year claimed the life of a 24-year-old Jarreau woman.
It was after 6 a.m. on January 1, 2025 when Louisiana State Police troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 416 at Patin Lane in Pointe Coupee Parish.
Hailey Saizan, 24, of Jarreau, died in the crash.
The investigation so far shows that Saizan was driving a 2009 Ford Escape north on Hwy 416. For reasons still under investigation, she did not turn into the curve. Instead, troopers say she exited the roadway and hit multiple trees.
Troopers added Saizan was not buckled at the time of the crash. She had serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, but did not survive. Impairment is unknown at this time. Per standard procedure, a standard toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis.
