Pointe Coupee: One arrested after deputy-involved shooting

NEW ROADS, La. — A deputy was taken to a hospital after a Simmesport man allegedly fired off several shots at him.

It was just before 10 p.m. on Feb. 10 when officials say a Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on Court Street in New Roads.

That’s when officials say the passenger of the vehicle allegedly “fired multiple shots at the officer just before fleeing on foot.”

Around 1 a.m., the suspect, identified as Adam Alexandria Robertson, 32, of Simmesport, was arrested from his home.

The deputy had minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital. The deputy has since been was released.

Investigators with the Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Office as well as the New Roads Police Department are investigating the incident.
