ADDIS — Addis Police released new details into the domestic incident on July 1 that left a 7-year-old girl dead. According to officials, a 911 hang-up call was made by the girl’s mother around 7:30 p.m. that day, two hours before a 911 call reported an unresponsive child.
The 911 hang-up call came from Breyonne Dorsey’s cell phone, according to the lead detective on the case, Sgt. Ron Carroll. Because the call came from a cell phone and the caller hung up quickly, the location of the call was determined to be a broad area, Carroll said. Responding officers were then unable to locate the caller, Addis Police’s Public Information Officer Ricco Thomas said.
“They made an attempt to call back, the mom answered the phone, said that it was a mistake; that everything was okay, and hung up the phone again. So we were never able to establish a location until two hours later, approximately two hours later,” Carroll clarified at Wednesday’s press conference.

A second 911 call was made around 9:47 p.m. July 1, reporting an unresponsive child. The West Baton Rouge Coroner’s office determined that 7-year-old Paris Williams died of “multiple blunt force injuries” stemming from the domestic incident.
“Based on the evidence collected to date, detectives have determined that the overturned furniture was not the cause of Paris Williams’ death,” Thomas said. Addis PD said they are still investigating what caused the blunt force wounds to the child.
The girl’s mother and her boyfriend are now behind bars. In addition, investigators believe evidence was tampered with at the scene and there were attempts to conceal evidence, Carroll said. Louisiana State Police partnered with Addis Police to process the evidence at the scene.
When Addis Police officers arrived at the home on July 1, Williams’ mother, Dorsey, had facial injuries, including swelling of her eyes, the detective said. She was transported to a hospital for her injuries.
Both Dorsey and Christopher Butler have declined to provide statements or otherwise cooperate with the investigation, Addis PD shared. Dorsey’s bond was set at $1 million this week, and Butler’s bond was set at $2.5 million, per the jail.
According to court records, both Dorsey and Butler have prior convictions. In 2021, Dorsey pleaded guilty to introducing contraband into or upon grounds of a state correctional institute, where she was sentenced to three years’ probation and a fine. In addition, the judge ordered that she was to “refrain from any contact with Christopher Butler”, as part of the sentencing. It was not clear how long the order was.
The Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services is now involved in the investigation, per Addis PD.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected.

ADDIS — The man accused in an incident where an Addis child died has been arrested at the West Baton Rouge Parish Prison this afternoon. The Coroner’s office determined that 7-year-old Paris Williams died of “multiple blunt force injuries” after a fight Wednesday night in Addis.
Williams’ 30-year-old mother is behind bars accused of domestic battery and principal to murder in the death of her own daughter. The mother’s bond was set at $1 million, according to the jail. The man who was also allegedly involved in the fight has turned himself in to officials as of Monday afternoon.
Breyonne Dorsey, 30, was arrested on July 3, with police saying her alleged role in the fight between her and Christopher Butler inside an Addis home on Wednesday allegedly led to the death of her 7-year-old daughter Paris Williams.
A warrant was also issued for Butler’s arrest, a 33-year-old man from Plaquemine. He turned himself in to officials on Monday, July 6. He is charged with two counts of felony domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and one count of second-degree murder.
Addis Police officers responded to a home in the 8000 block of LA Hwy 1 just after 9:45 p.m. on July 1 for an unresponsive seven-year-old girl. When they arrived, officers attempted life-saving measures on the girl before she was transported to a local children’s hospital.
Later Wednesday night, Addis officers learned the girl had died of her injuries.
During their investigation, Addis officers learned that a physical fight allegedly took place inside the home involving the girl’s mother and Butler before the child became unresponsive. Officers noted that the mother was physically injured and also transported to a hospital.
Addis Police Chief Jason Langlois says Butler was allegedly tossing around furniture in the domestic fight, including a dresser. It’s unclear at this time exactly how the child died, but that the fight was between the child’s mother and Butler, and the little girl somehow was caught in the incident.
Dorsey is charged with two counts felony domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, one count of principal to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. According to the WBR Parish Jail, Dorsey’s bond has been set at $1 million.
