Police arrest juvenile accused of 5 burglaries in Walker

Walker Police arrested a juvenile suspect accused of five burglaries, including vape shops and a Dollar Tree.

According to Walker Police Chief David Addison, the burglaries occurred after hours between Oct. 6 and Oct. 31.

“Our investigations of the burglaries, including the review of video surveillance footage, revealed that in each burglary, the suspect gained entry by breaking out a store window,” Addison explained. “The suspect then took merchandise from the business before fleeing the scene.”

Authorities say surveillance video revealed certain distinctive items of clothing, footwear, and accessories the suspect wore. The similarities led Walker Police to determine the burglaries were likely committed by the same suspect.

After sharing the burglary information with Crime Stoppers, the suspect was identified and he later turned himself in.

Officials say when Walker detectives questioned the suspect, he confessed to the crimes.

The juvenile suspect was charged with five counts of simple burglary, and five counts of criminal damage to property. He was booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center.

“We are pleased to have resolved these burglaries and arrested the person responsible,” Addison stated. “We work hard to prevent crime in Walker. When we do have incidents of criminal activity, it is important that we resolve such crimes as quickly as possible. Without question, the efforts of CrimeStoppers and the support of our citizens help us in that regard and assist us in keeping our city safe.”
