BATON ROUGE — A man is facing multiple charges, accused of assaulting an EMS medical crew member while in transport to a hospital.
Kenneth Armstrong is facing charges of battery of emergency room personnel, emergency services personnel, or a healthcare professional and resisting an officer.
On Wednesday, May 13, an East Baton Rouge EMS unit responded to Florida Boulevard and North Beck Street for a medical call. After their evaluation of the patient (Armstrong), the crew determined he needed more medical help and started transporting him to a nearby hospital, per the police report.
While on the way to the hospital, BRPD says that Armstrong allegedly grabbed the crew member and assaulted her.
The crew called for police backup and four BRPD officers held Armstrong down when they started transporting him again, according to the arrest document.
Armstrong was taken into the hospital for treatment and evaluation before he was cleared for booking. According to the arrest documents, Armstrong was not fingerprinted due to safety concerns for the civilian staff.
The EMS worker was seen by emergency room staff, per the document, and later released.
Armstrong has a record that includes charges of battery of emergency room personnel from August 2025, in which an outstanding bench warrant was issued.
