SLIDELL — Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Slidell woman on multiple charges after they discovered illegal narcotics in her vehicle & an unexpected location after a traffic stop.
On March 24, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Proactive Enforcement Unit detectives were patrolling in Slidell when they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. Shirrica Smith, 33, of Slidell was driving the vehicle at that time.
During the stop, detectives say they found fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and a gun in the vehicle, while her four-year-old child was inside. Detectives detained Smith and a family member took custody of the child.
While booking Smith into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center, officials say they found additional quantities of suspected “green fentanyl,” crack cocaine and methamphetamine hidden in her buttocks. This resulted in additional charges against Smith.
She is charged with the following:
- 1 count Distribution/Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS (methamphetamine)
- 1 count Distribution/Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS (fentanyl)
- 1 count Possession of Schedule II CDS
- 1 count Illegal Carrying of Weapons During a Crime or in Possession of CDS
- 1 count Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies
- 1 count Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- 3 counts Illegal Use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of a Person Under Seventeen Years of Age
- 3 counts Contraband; Taking to and From Penal Institutions
- 1 count Stop Signs and Yield Signs; Penalties for Violations
- 1 count Violation of Registration Provisions
- 1 count Turning Movements and Required Signals
