HAMMOND — The Hammond Police Department’s (HPD) Narcotics Division, with the help of the HPD SWAT team and Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO), arrested two men after executing a search warrant at an apartment on Morris Road this week.
The subject of their investigation, 20-year-old Quintion Jennings Jr. wasn’t home when law enforcement executed the warrant. However, during the search, Jennings arrived at the apartment complex, but drove away when he saw the police activity.
Officers made a traffic stop and took Jennings into custody. During the stop, officers say Jennings was in possession of a loaded AR-15 style pistol. Officers found the following while searching his residence:
- Micro Draco semi-automatic pistol loaded with a high-capacity magazine
- Glock handgun equipped with a machine gun conversion device (MCD) and loaded extended magazine
- Phoenix 25-caliber semi-automatic handgun with the serial number removed
- Glock handgun with two different serial numbers
- Large amount of ammunition
- Several high-capacity magazines
- Spent ammunition catcher
- Approximately 128 grams of suspected marijuana
- Drug paraphernalia including a digital scale
Jennings was booked on multiple charges including:
- Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Two counts of possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances
- Possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number
- Possession of a machine gun
According to investigators, the semi-automatic handgun had been modified into a fully-automatic firearm by a machine gun conversion device, commonly referred to as a “switch.” This is illegal under both state and federal laws, and HPD will refer the investigation to the United States Attorneys’ Office for potential federal prosecuted.
Another man, 22-year-old Tredyn Barnes, of Hammond, was also in the apartment during the search warrant, and was arrested for multiple outstanding warrants through TPSO.
