Police: Five arrested after high-speed chase in a stolen car from Baton Rouge to Plaquemine

PLAQUEMINE, La. – Five people have been arrested in Iberville Parish for allegedly stealing a car and leading police on a high-speed chase that started in Baton Rouge and ended in Plaquemine.

The incident started around 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday after the suspects stole a car in Baton Rouge.

Addis police noticed the car and advised a Plaquemine Police. Once a marked unit arrived, the suspects took off at high speed through town, Plaquemine Police told Unfiltered with Kiran.

Plaquemine Chief Stephen Engolio said the suspects went down Railroad Ave. and Canal St. to Belleview to Ferdinand before turning onto Court St.

The chase lasted about two minutes until the suspects struck a telephone pole near Court Street.

Three people jumped out of the car and fled into the “Fort” area in Plaquemine. All three were apprehended by Plaquemine Police. Two additional people were in the back of the car who did not run after the crash.

Five people were arrested including three adults and two juveniles. Two will be charged with possession of stolen goods. The three who fled will be charged with aggravated flight.

Jason Alex Parker, Jr., 19, was the alleged driver. He is being held on $100,000 bond for:

  • Aggravated Flight from an Officer (FELONY) 
  • Resisting an Officer (MISD)
  • Illegal Possession of Stolen Things 
  • Reckless Operations with Accident 
  • Simple Criminal Damage to Property (MISD)
  • Driver Must Be Licensed

Two other adults were also arrested:

  • Jacory Williams – Possession of Stolen Goods 
  • Kendal Battiste – Possession of Stolen Goods
