PONCHATOULA — Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man who they say is involved in running a drug operation across the street from a church.
67-year-old James Rodgers, of Ponchatoula, was booked on one count each of intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction of justice, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance within a drug-free zone.
Rodgers is a convicted felon and registered sex offender, according to Tangipahoa officials.
The TPSO Narcotics Division received a tip from the community about suspicious behavior at a home on S. Range Road. Officials surveilled the area for several days, identified Rodgers as a potential drug trafficking suspect, and obtained search warrants for the home.
Deputies recovered cocaine, a crack cocaine/fentanyl mixture, a digital scale, and more than $8,600 in cash during the search.
