PRAIRIEVILLE — A Ponchatoula man died in a crash in Ascension Parish on Friday evening and troopers say speed is a factor in the wreck.
It was just before 6:00 p.m. on March 13 when Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 42 near Log Cabin Road in Ascension Parish.
Christian Harrell, 28, of Ponchatoula, died in the crash.
The investigation so far shows Harrell was speeding while driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado on Hwy. 42. For unknown reasons, Harrell went off the roadway to the left side into a ditch before hitting a utility pole.
Harrell was not buckled and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Impairment is unknown at this time and a routine toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
