PONCHATOULA — One person is dead and another is recovering following a domestic shooting that started inside a McDonald’s in Ponchatoula.
Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson tells UWK the shooting happened at around 5:45 p.m. on April 14. The woman walked into the McDonald’s on Pine Street, where her husband worked and is accused of chasing him out of the restaurant before shooting him in the hand, per police.
Layrisson said the man screamed for someone to call the police as the woman fled into a car wash parking lot next to the McDonald’s, where officers confronted her.
“When the officers arrived, they gave her two or three commands to drop the firearm, and that’s when she took her own life,” Laryrisson said.
The husband is recovering at a local hospital, but Layrisson said Ponchatoula Police are not releasing the name of the victim or the deceased until the next of kin can be notified.
