PORT ALLEN– The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives, along with the assistance of the Addis Police Department, arrested three people for allegedly dealing drugs out of a local convenience store.
The month-long investigation was prompted by information indicating the clerk, who is also the owner of “Snappy’s” convenience store located at 1521 U.S. Hwy 190, was allegedly selling drugs. Undercover detectives conducted controlled purchases of methamphetamine and marijuana directly from the store’s owner, Mafoodh Ahmed.
The investigation led to the arrests of Ahmed, 28, Saleem Hadi, 26 and Sabrina Christian, 56.
Officials say during the controlled transactions, detectives witnessed Ahmed openly conducting drug transactions at the store counter, a few feet away from where customers typically purchase food items. Additionally, Ahmed utilized store employees as lookouts during these illegal activities, with firearms observed present during the transactions.
On March 12, narcotics detectives arrested Ahmed for narcotics distribution. Authorities executed a search warrant at “Snappy’s,” listed as Jakarta LLC, according to the Louisiana Secretary of State, and a residence on N. Riverview Drive in Port Allen.
During the search, detectives seized a significant quantity of illegal substances, including fentanyl packaged for sale, marijuana, and firearms. Stolen property was also recovered by West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office burglary detectives at the scene.
Ahmed was released on a $500,000 bond while Hadi was released on a bond of $275,000. Christian remains in custody with a bond set at $35,000.
