PORT ALLEN — Livestock Brand Inspectors arrested a Port Allen man on Monday for allegedly stealing over 130 sacks of crawfish, valued at over $8,800.
The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry‘s (LDAF’s) Livestock Brand Commission said Ricky G. Hasbert, 54, is accused of not paying a Pointe Coupee Parish crawfish producer on three occasions in May 2024. Hasbert allegedly received 135 total sacks of crawfish that he did not pay for.
Hasbert was booked at the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail on June 30th, with his transfer pending to the Pointe Coupee Parish Jail.
The Livestock Brand Commission maintains a 24-hour Crimestoppers hotline at (800) 558-9741 for the public to report thefts or other agriculture-related crimes.
