PORT VINCENT — The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating a deadly boating accident near Port Vincent Tuesday.
Good Samaritans discovered an unoccupied 16-foot boat grounded along the bank of Colyell Bay, with its engine still running and the throttle positioned forward, according to agents.
The body of Patrick Jones, 57, of Port Vincent, was recovered from Colyell Bay, near where his boat was found, around 8 p.m. on May 7. Agents noted that he was not wearing a life vest.
The LDWF Enforcement Division is leading the investigation, though it remains unclear what caused Jones to be ejected from the boat.
