PRAIRIEVILLE —- A 20-year-old man lost his life in a two-vehicle crash on Friday evening.
It was around 7:45 p.m. on November 21 when Louisiana State Troopers responded to a crash on Hwy. 42 at Muddy Creek Rd. in Ascension Parish.
Matthew Shields, 20, of Prairieville, died in the crash and Danny Tabor, Jr., 45, of Prairieville, was arrested.
The investigation so far shows that Tabor was driving east on Hwy. 42 in a 2007 Ford F-150, while Shields was traveling west on a 2025 Yamaha motorcycle.
While attempting to turn left onto Muddy Creek Rd., Tabor turned in front of the motorcycle resulting in the crash. resulting in a collision with the Ford.
Troopers say Shields was wearing a DOT-approved helmet. He was rushed to a hospital but did not survive his injuries.
Tabor was properly buckled and uninjured. He was arrested and charged with negligent homicide, failure to yield left turn, driving under suspension, no insurance, expired MVI. Troopers say impairment is not suspected but a routine toxicology was taken and results are pending.
