AMITE — A 48-year-old from Prairieville died in a crash Monday night in Amite, according to Louisiana State Police.
It was around 10:50 p.m. on Oct. 20th when State Police troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 near LA Highway 16 in Tangipahoa Parish.
Rashida H. Taylor, 48, of Prairieville, died in the crash.
The investigation so far show that Taylor was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla south on I-55. For reasons still under investigation, Taylor veered off the interstate to the right, overturned, and hit a tree.
Troopers say Taylor was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Taylor died on the scene. A routine toxicology sample was taken per normal procedure.
