Purse stolen as customer was pumping gas

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a vehicle burglary that happened while the victim was pumping gas on July 14th around 2pm.

According to EBRSO, a driver of another vehicle distracted the victim, while the suspect allegedly committed the theft at the Marathon gas station on Siegen Lane.

Officials refer to the burglary as “sliders.” It involves a vehicle pulling up next to your vehicle. The person in the other vehicle opens your door and snatches any belongings or will steal the car if the keys are still in it.

The sheriff’s office urges drivers to keep doors locked and windows closed.

If you have been the victim of a burglary or witnessed any suspicious activity, call the Sheriff’s Office at 225-389-5000
