DENHAM SPRINGS —- A 31-year-old is behind bars on multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from sheriff’s deputies and leading them on a pursuit.
Marlo Miguel Gonzales was arrested around 6:15 p.m. on March 25 after crashing into a canal.
It’s unclear at this time why Gonzales fled from deputies after they attempted to stop him, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office. That remains under investigation.
Gonzales allegedly led marked and unmarked LPSO deputies on a pursuit up and down Hwy. 16 around 6 p.m. He passed both the elementary and high schools in Denham and circled Antique Village. Denham Springs Police joined in the pursuit to help LPSO.
During the pursuit, Gonzales allegedly hit two deputies’ units. “He intentionally rammed a marked unit and an unmarked unit in his attempt to flee,” said LPSO.
The pursuit ended near the Denham Springs High School with Gonzales crashing into a canal. That’s when K9 Diesel was able to apprehend Gonzales, leading to his arrest.
He’s at the Livingston Parish Detention Center charged with aggravated flight, aggravated criminal damage to property, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and additional charges could be forthcoming.
