Incumbent Louisiana Senator, John Kennedy is projected to win the election and retain his position in the Senate by avoiding a run-off.
John Kennedy has served as senator since he was elected in 2016. The seventy-year-old ran as a Republican and was endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

He far outspent any of his candidates with his expenditures surpassing $25 million.
The candidates who spent the most amount of money besides Kennedy spent around $1 million.
Kennedy’s large campaign budget allowed him to air television ads like one where he spoke on law enforcement, and said, “If you hate cops just because they’re cops, the next time you get in trouble, call a crackhead.”
His “call a crackhead” video went viral on TikTok and was even turned into an audio.
One video by TikTok account “@frank_thebarber” used the audio and received 764.4k likes.
Apart from his campaign videos, Kennedy is known for his conservative values.
His website reads, “Senator Kennedy is a true champion of conservative values and our constitutional rights. He believes that America is the greatest nation in all human history and that our freedoms must always be defended. As senator, he has fought to lower taxes, protect your 2nd Amendment rights, secure the Southern border, and defend the lives of the unborn.”
Fighting inflation is listed as the first issue on the former Louisiana Treasurer’s website.
Continuing to build the wall on the U.S border and standing against abortion are two other values Kennedy proclaims.
Sen. John Kennedy currently serves on the Appropriations, Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, Budget, Judiciary and Small Business and Entrepreneurship committees in the Senate.
In addition to his roles as Senator, Kennedy has also been a substitute teacher for Louisiana public schools.
