EAST BATON ROUGE —- Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a deadly crash that has claimed three lives.
It was around 8:40 p.m. in the 15600 block of River Road in East Baton Rouge Parish near the L’Auberge Casino when deputies responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash.
At the scene, two people were found dead from their injuries while a third person was transported in critical condition. The third person has since died from their injuries.
EBRSO says the driver was going north on River Road when, for reasons still under investigation, he failed to turn into the curve. That’s when he went off the roadway and hit a utility pole.
The three deceased have been identified as Zacariah Johnson, 20, Marqies Duncan Jr., 15, and George Taylor, 30. Johnson was going to be celebrating his 21st birthday on April 20th.
EBRSO says they believe speed may have been a factor in the crash. Toxicology results are pending.
