BATON ROUGE — In an effort to support victims of Hurricane Helene, members of the Baton Rouge community are hosting a benefit concert at The Texas Club on Thursday, Oct. 24.
The event, called “Rockin’ the Boot,” will feature performances by Chris LeBlanc, David St. Romain, The Eddie Smith Band, Chase Tyler, Ryan Foret, Floyd Brown, and Stormy. In addition to live music, the benefit will include food and a variety of auction items to raise funds and collect donations for those affected by the hurricane, according to organizer Randall Barksdale.
“Some of these people lost everything, including their lives,” Barksdale said. “As bad as we had it in 2016, we’re just trying to come together and put an event together so that we can give back to those people.”
Doors open at 6 p.m., with music starting at 7 p.m. The $30 cover includes “all the food you wanna eat.” Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

Between music sets, there will be a live auction featuring approximately seven items, as well as a silent auction with many donated items from individuals and businesses.
Food options will include pastalaya, jambalaya, pulled pork, gumbo, chicken spaghetti, white beans, and more. Desserts will also be available, and attendees are welcome to bring cookies or brownies to share.
The United Cajun Navy will have a 50-foot trailer on-site to collect donations for Hurricane Helene victims. Those unable to attend the concert are still encouraged to drop off items in the parking lot.
“Show up and let’s pack it. All you have to do is pull up in the parking lot and drop it off,” he explained.
All types of donations are welcome, including diapers, food, and water, but clothing must be new. Used items will not be accepted.
“Anything and everything that you can think of that you might need in your house is something we can send up there.”
