Saturday morning shooting leaves one in critical condition

BATON ROUGE — One person has been transported in critical condition after a Saturday morning shooting in Baton Rouge.

It happened on a street Baton Rouge Police have been very familiar with just this week alone.

It was in the 3600 block of Geronimo St. off of Plank Rd.

Police responded around 9:30am Saturday for a call of shots fired. At the scene, they found a man clinging to life after he was shot, possibly in the head, according to sources.

He has since been transported in critical condition.

This shooting comes just five days after a brother allegedly opened fire at a family gathering shooting and killing one of his own sisters and injuring another sister. The shooting today appears to be in the same area as the April 24th shooting.

BRPD has since arrested Gerald McDowell, 29, accusing him of killing his 18-yr-old sister Kevineisha McDowell, 18. Officials say she was trying to break up a family argument when she was killed. Their sister was also injured and transported to a hospital.

Anyone with information on today’s shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
