School bus catches on fire on Perkins, no injuries

BATON ROUGE — A school bus went up in flames early Thursday morning in Baton Rouge.

It was just after 6 a.m. on March 7 when St. George Firefighters responded to Perkins Rd. near Bluebonnet Blvd. for a fully engulfed school bus.

Thankfully, the bus did not have any kids on it and the driver was able to get out without any injuries.

The area was shut down while firefighters battled the blaze. It has since reopened.

Officials say the cause of the fire remains under investigation but it appears the fire may have started in the engine of the bus.
