List of school closures Wednesday due to winter blast

BATON ROUGE — Local school districts and universities are monitoring icy roads and frigid temps as they decide whether to reopen schools Wednesday.

Live Updates: Some roads begin reopening after icy morning commute

The following districts have announced their plans for Wednesday:

Ascension Parish

Ascension Parish Public Schools will be closed Wednesday due to dangerous temperatures and wind chill

Catholic Schools

Catholic schools in the Diocese of Baton Rouge will follow the lead of the civil parishes in which they are located as to whether they will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17.

Central

Due to extreme temperatures forecast for the early morning hours tomorrow, all Central Community schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

East Baton Rouge

East Baton Rouge Public Schools will be closed Wednesday due to the weather.

East Feliciana

All East Feliciana Public Schools and offices will remain closed Wednesday, January 17. Classes will resume Thursday, January 18.

Iberville

Iberville Parish Public Schools will be closed Wednesday due to the weather.

Livingston

Livingston Parish Public Schools will remain closed Wednesday

LSU

LSU returns to classes Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 12:30 p.m.

Pointe Coupee

All Pointe Coupee Parish public schools will remain closed Wednesday.

Southeastern Louisiana University

Southeastern is remote learning tomorrow on their first day back from winter break

West Baton Rouge

West Baton Rouge Public Schools will remain closed Wednesday, Jan. 17, due to the weather.

Holy Family will also be closed.

West Feliciana

Due to the low temperatures, ice at the schools, and potential road closures for employees traveling to work, West Feliciana Parish Schools will be closed and there will be no classes or virtual coursework on Wednesday, January 17, to keep our students and employees safe. All extracurricular activities are cancelled Wednesday, January 17. Students will return to school on Thursday, January 18.
