BATON ROUGE — The search for a missing teen continues, marking over two weeks since he was last seen. UWK came across a large police presence gathered near Winbourne Avenue and Conrad Dr. Friday afternoon before other search parties went to a nearby landfill.
This all comes just days after Baton Rouge Police, Mayor-President Sid Edwards and other officials held a press conference asking for the public to share any tips related to a missing teen.
Baton Rouge Police units were stationed in a parking lot with multiple businesses near the intersection of Winbourne Ave. and Conrad Dr. Friday afternoon around 4:30. They could be seen looking closely and swabbing things around the area.
From there, units regrouped and headed to the North Landfill, which is located in Zachary.
Missing teen Ja’Derrius Minnieweather, 15, was last seen on June 5 on Bradley Street, in the Foster/Winbourne area of Baton Rouge. The United Cajun Navy and community members joined together in the past week for multiple searches to look for Minnieweather.
Maurice Parms lives on Webb Street, officials confirmed. The investigation into the missing teen led officers to Parms on a separate investigation.
The 50-year-old was arrested on indecent behavior with a juvenile and computer-aided solicitation of a minor. He posted a $7,500 bond just days later.
Police have not confirmed officially whether Parms was ever a person of interest in Minnieweather’s disappearance.
The United Cajun Navy continues helping police and the family with search efforts, using drones and other resources in the search.
Officials & volunteers searched numerous locations on Friday with no trace of Minnieweather. Search efforts will resume Saturday.
A reward remains available for any information into the whereabouts of Minnieweather.
