PRAIRIEVILLE — On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a missing 13-year-old girl from the Prairieville area has been located safely. The office shared on Nov. 12 just after 5 p.m. that she was “safe and secure,” per social media.
APSO began investigating a report of a runaway juvenile, 13-year-old Kaidyn Chevalier, on Sunday after her family reported her missing on Nov. 8. She was last seen leaving her home on Nov. 8 around 3:15 p.m. after a “minor disagreement with her parents,” per the sheriff’s office.
Detectives immediately began search efforts, which continued for several days and included reviewing surveillance footage from neighbors and area businesses, assistance from the APSO Drone Team, and forensic analysis. On. Nov. 11, Louisiana State Police issued a Level II Child Endangerment Alert on behalf of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office for the missing girl.
On Wednesday, APSO detectives received information that the girl was seen outside a neighbor’s residence. Detectives responded to the location and located Kaidyn. According to APSO, the homeowners had just returned home from a trip and saw Kaidyn in their backyard. She was taken into custody unharmed.
